NEWS:- NLC protests non-payment of ex-PHCN staff's salary

Protesting members of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), at the early hours of Monday, paralysed working activities at Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IEDC), Ring Road, Ibadan.
Led by its chairman, Mr Bashir Olanrewaju, the labour union, was protesting against non-fulfillment of the promises made by the Federal Government to the former staff of PHCN before unbundling the company.

Olanrewaju, said the Federal Government had promised that unbundling of PHCN would cause improvement in power distribution, while it also assured sacked staff members of prompt payment of their gratuities.
Likewise, the labour leader said the Federal Government promised not to victimise labour leaders among staff members, which he said had been the case, as some of them according to him had been sacked from the workforce.
Olanrewaju said some of the sacked staff members are yet to be paid, while there hasn't been noticeable improvement in power distribution as promised by Federal Government and investors who took over the administration of the power companies.
He however, called on the authorities to rise up to its responsibilities before May 1, as he said if nothing was done before the day, the entire labour force in the state would fully occupy the IEDC office.
